Classic Book Review | If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon

If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon
If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon
If Tomorrow Comes opens with smart, classy, beautiful, Tracy Whitney. She’s a bank employee in Philadelphia who lives a humdrum life. But, things change when she meets and falls in love with the man of her dreams, Charles Stanhope III. He is Philadelphia's prize catch and part of the oldest family in the city. And old family means old money. Things move fast between the couple. A pregnancy surprises Tracy, which prompts Charles to ask Tracy for her hand in married.

Before Tracy could blend into the high-society family everything came to a halt. Her mother had committed suicide back home in New Orleans. This changed Tracy's life forever. She had to clear her mother's name. So, with a half thought out plan, Tracy buys a gun. But, there's no triumph. Instead she got a one-way ticket to prison when a smooth-talking lawyer tricked her into pleading guilty for a crime she didn't commit.
Like a fish out of the water, Tracy must learn how to survive in the Southern Louisiana Penitentiary. She endures rape, abuse, and a multitude of threats that caused her to lose the baby. This birthed something sinister in Tracy. She figured out how to defeat people using her intelligence and out-whit her way out of prison.

With Tracy's freedom she dedicated her life to getting revenge on everyone who wronged her instead of helping her. And boy was she successful.

Tracy was a force like no other and even had one up on seasoned criminal mind, Jeff Stevens. Her wittiness made him fall in love with her. Her undeniable beauty was the icing on the cake. But, the investigator Daniel Cooper was a problem. He was as smart as Tracy and on her tail. No one had ever defeated Daniel until he set out to take Tracy Whitney down. It wouldn't be an easy task.

It was a game between Tracy and Jeff. They traveled from the U.S. to London, Paris, Biarritz, Madrid, and Amsterdam committing a series of crimes. It connected them and she couldn't hide her feelings for Jeff anymore. They were one in the same and soon after their last heist Tracy and Jeff planned to make it official. Only Tracy ends up on a plane next to one of the richest men in the world, Maximilian Pierpont.  And that's where the story ends. Did she go for it or did she pass on it? But, knowing how much Tracy loves a thrill, I would assume she went for it.
